ZTE shows off Intel- and Windows 8-based V98 tablet


Windows 8 is all set to hit the market in around a month though most industry experts are already declaring the new operating system DOA. But that isn't stopping manufacturers from launching products based on the new OS. ZTE has just presented the ZTE V98 a new Windows 8 based tablet. The slick device is just 8.9mm thick and weighs just 700 grams. The device uses the new Clover Trail platform by Intel and comes with a 1366 x 768 pixel resolution touch-enabled 10.1 inch display.

The new tablet comes with a microSD card slot that can accommodate cards with up to 64 gigabytes of storage. The device also boasts of 32 gigs of internal memory. The V98 is offered with 2GB of RAM and 64GB of ROM and a Z2760 chipset from Intel. Specification wise, the ZTE V98 comes with quad-band GSM, tri-band UMTS, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0 and 802.11 b/g/n WiFi. LTE and NFC will be offered as optional add ons on the device. The tablet runs on a 7,000 mAh battery and features an 8 megapixel camera at the rear and a 2 megapixel camera at the front for video calls. At the moment ZTE has not revealed the pricing for the V98 tablet though it is expected to go on sale in the first half of 2013.
